Christie J. Fernandez, M.Ed., LPC

IMG_0749Christie Fernandez is a National Certified Counselor and is licensed by the Texas State Board of Examiners as a Licensed Professional Counselor. Christie earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Interdisciplinary Studies, specializing in early childhood education, from Stephen F. Austin State University in 1996. She earned a Masters of Education in School Counseling and Licensed Professional Counseling from Sam Houston State University in 2007.

Christie’s professional background includes eleven years of teaching at the elementary level, three years as an elementary school counselor, and one year as a high school counselor. She has worked as a Clinical Therapist in the psychiatric hospital setting facilitating group, individual, and family therapy sessions with patients diagnosed with chronic mental illness. Christie currently has nine years experience with Kimberly Boyd Counseling Center as a Licensed Professional Counselor.

Christie accepts individuals and couples of all ages and has experience with play therapy, marriage counseling, crisis counseling, grief, anxiety, depression, abuse, ADHD, interpersonal relationships, and life transitions. Christie works with clients of all faiths and backgrounds and is comfortable discussing faith with a client, if it is of importance to them.

Christie believes that change happens when people are given the guidance they need to draw on their own strengths and realize their potential to live fulfilling, happy lives. Christie provides an environment of compassion and support to help individuals and families overcome obstacles to move forward and thrive
