Nyla H. Gutekunst, M.A., LPC

nylaNyla Gutekunst began her career with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Education and Music from Concordia University, Nebraska. While teaching, she realized that she was more interested in the emotional wellbeing of her students. She eventually returned to school to complete a Master of Arts in Professional Counseling from Liberty University. She is licensed by the state of Texas as a Licensed Professional Counselor.  In addition to working at Kimberly Boyd Counseling Center, LLC, Nyla has also worked at FamilyTime Crisis and Counseling Center in Humble.
Nyla’s counseling experience includes a variety of emotional distress issues: anger, anxiety, depression, grief, physical, emotional, and sexual abuse, domestic violence and sexual assault, divorce, and co-dependency. She utilizes play therapy for her young clients. She is comfortable with all age groups, preschoolers through elderly, couples, and families.
Nyla believes that the counseling process needs to provide a safe environment for clients to explore the issues that are bringing them distress. Her goal in therapy is to assist her clients in discovering the core of their issue, recognize their strengths, and provide a supportive relationship where the client can determine and complete their desired goals.
Nyla has been a Professional Church Musician for over 35 years and as a Christian she is comfortable having clients with differing faiths and worldview.
