Tamara L. Agimudie, M.A., LPC Intern

Tamara Agimudie earned her Bachelor of Science in Business Information Technology from Rogers State University in 2008. Since then she has earned her Masters of Arts in Counseling from CACREP accredited Sam Houston State University in 2013. Tamara is working under the direct supervision of Kimberly Boyd, M.S., LPC-S. Tamara has completed the Level 3 Practicum Training in Gottman Method Couples Therapy and uses the Gottman Method in her work. She is a proponent of play therapy and uses a child centered approach when working with young clients.

Tamara’s counseling experience includes working at the University of Houston Emotion’s Lab where she gained invaluable experience in understanding nonverbal communication. She also worked at The Woodlands Counseling Center where she counseled children, adolescents, individuals, and couples. Tamara has also worked at Family Time Crisis and Counseling Center where she gained experience with survivors of sexual abuse. Tamara is experienced in working with issues of depression, anxiety, self harm, grief, substance abuse, parenting, couples therapy, and marriage counseling.
Tamara believes that individuals are born with infinite potential and it is the demands of family and society that greatly affect a person’s personality and development throughout the lifespan. It is also her belief that the role of the counselor is to help clients address cognitive distortions and faulty assumptions in order to attain independence and self actualization. Tamara also believes that each individual is unique and capable of change; therefore she tailors specific treatment goals for each client.
